The article title is \u2018Industrial Internet Applications for Efficient Road Winter Maintenance\u2019<\/a>. The article describes a concept of floating data for an industrial internet application for efficient road maintenance.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter Road Maintenance Planning \u2013 Decision Support Modelling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A research committed by Keegan Mbiyana has been published in the series of Lule\u00e5 University of Technology. The research was done in master\u2019s thesis work for maintenance engineering. It delivers a framework for maintenance planning and an algorithm for maintenance vehicle routing. The thesis document can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lapland University of Applied Scienceshas developed algorithms for compressing intelligent road data for the purposesof real-time data visualization. Experts Kari Peisa and Jouko Teeriaho have written a practical article on their work regarding these algorithms. The report can be accessed from here<\/a>. The deliverable is part of the visualization system of WIRMA user interface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Ecosystem Analysis of a Vehicular Road Weather InformationSystem – case WiRMa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This master’s thesis was conducted as a part of VTT’s assignment in Lapland UAS’s WiRMa -project. The thesis considers business issues related to WiRMa. As vehicular road weather data collection systems, such as WiRMa system, evolve and will need many different capabilities, it is reasonable to presume that number of different actors will form a business ecosystem around it. This thesis explores the business ecosystem’s actors, their roles and capabilities. The purpose of the thesis is to support WiRMa project’s solutions to become commercial innovations. In addition to business ecosystem description, value creation in the business ecosystem is considered and depicted. WiRMa system has potential to improve traffic safety, reduce costs of winter road maintenance, and also it is possible that new businesses will emerge as new services are needed and enabled by novel road weather data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
